10 Years Ago Today We Banked On Change
Who would have thought that exactly 10 years ago today at 4.30pm the RBS Branch in Newmilns officially closed its doors to the public after a remarkable 124 years of dedicated service to the local community.
In the years that have followed, the former bank premises at Lamlash House has undergone an impressive transformation that has significantly redefined its role within the area. Over the course of five years of sympathetic restoration, we have dedicated ourselves to reinstating the original character of the former bank, ensuring that its historical essence is preserved. With the necessary statutory consents from the Council successfully secured for a Change of Use of this cherished listed building, Lamlash House opened its welcoming doors to a new chapter after its official launch in June 2019.
Through Lamlash House Events we have introduced a variety of public and private dining events that cater to diverse tastes. Historic tours, created in association with THAT Co. and MYB Textiles, have been thoughtfully designed to honour the rich heritage of both the property and the town of Newmilns. Since our launch, we have proudly welcomed a total of 4,147 guests to Lamlash House. Among these visitors, we have served an impressive 1,617 Afternoon Teas, which included a staggering 6,468 hand-cut finger sandwiches, showcasing our commitment to quality. Our hospitality has also extended to a range of esteemed individuals, including five Chief Executives, several Members of Parliament, various MSPs, two Provosts, and the Consul General of the Republic of Poland.
Furthermore, Lamlash House has hosted 15 intimate weddings and numerous memorable family milestone celebrations, creating cherished moments for all involved. We take pride in offering what is possibly the smallest licensed bar in all of Ayrshire, a unique feature that adds to our charm. In recognition of our dedicated efforts and exceptional service, Lamlash House received the coveted VisitScotland Best Eating Experience award in 2023 for the Glasgow and West of Scotland region, further solidifying our reputation.
As we move forward, we continue to look ahead with enthusiasm to providing a warm and inviting welcome to all our guests, both new and returning, at our varied dining events. If you have yet to experience all that Lamlash House has to offer, we invite you to reflect on what might be holding you back?
