18th Valley WalkFest in the Irvine Valley

It was a delight to play a small part in the 18th Valley WalkFest at the weekend.
The event took place over three consecutive days, and involved an array of walks and events throughout the Irvine Valley.

We were delighted to host Friday evening’s Cream Tea at Lamlash House following the walk led by the girls from Newmilns Pharmacy. The walk went along the Strath Path to Galston and returned back to Newmilns via Maxwood and Piersland Farm.

Then on Sunday we welcomed the walkers on the Newmilns Town Trail, led by local historian Ian Pollock.

The walkers popped into Lamlash House to view the themed stained glass windows, and learn a little of the house’s history as a former working bank and bank manager’s house. The walkers even met the Victorian ghostly spirit of housemaid Annie Currie!

The walk then continued to other significant buildings in Newmilns.

The weather was definitely on the side of the organisers and an enjoyable weekend was had by all who put on their walking boots!
