Mother’s Day Afternoon Tea at Lamlash House – As Seen by Bill and Pat

Lamlash House was delighted to welcome returning Guest Bloggers Bill and Pat Paterson from All About the Scones for our Mother’s Day Afternoon Tea on Sunday.

Having previously visited in 2024, their return highlights the consistent experience we aim to deliver — combining heritage, hospitality, and carefully prepared afternoon tea.

A Warm Welcome in Newmilns

Despite a challenging journey through heavy rain, Bill and Pat described on their Blog about being “welcomed like long-lost friends” on arrival. Their visit this time took place in the former bank manager’s parlour, offering a different setting from their previous experience in the main banking hall.

More Than Just Afternoon Tea

Beyond the food, Bill and Pat highlighted the atmosphere of Lamlash House — describing the team as feeling “more like family” than staff, with a strong sense of local history and storytelling woven into the experience.

From locally made lace to conversations about Newmilns’ past, the visit reflected both the heritage of the building and the character of the area.

 Who are Bill & Pat?

Bill and Pat Paterson are Scottish-based food bloggers who describe themselves as “sconnoisseurs” — dedicated to finding and reviewing scones across cafés, tearooms, and venues.

They regularly travel to different locations, documenting their visits in a consistent, diary-style format. Their reviews are based on real visits, as paying customers, and focus on both the quality of the scones and the overall experience.

A Visit Worth Repeating

The only complaint noted by Bill and Pat on Sunday was the weather — something firmly outwith our control. Everything else, from welcome to service and food, delivered the standard Bill and Pat expect.

We look forward to welcoming them back again soon — and to hosting many more guests for future afternoon tea events at Lamlash House.
