Murder, Mystery and a Full House: MacTraitors Makes Its Debut at Lamlash House

Saturday 10th October marked a memorable evening at Lamlash House in Newmilns as we hosted our first-ever MacTraitors Murder Mystery Dinner in association with The Tentpeg Murderers. With a full house, plenty of intrigue and some fantastic feedback from guests, it was a wonderful start to what has quickly become one of our most popular events.

And judging by the response when bookings first opened in July, we had a feeling this was going to be something special.

Sold Out in Just 15 Minutes

When we first announced MacTraitors back in July, we knew there was an appetite for something a little different. What we hadn't anticipated was quite how quickly places would disappear.

Within just 15 minutes of bookings opening, the event was completely sold out.

The remarkable response led us to introduce four additional dates for November and December, which have also proved extremely popular. With demand continuing, we're delighted to have now added further MacTraitors evenings for February 2027.

Saturday was our first opportunity to bring the experience to life, and it certainly didn't disappoint.

An Evening of Suspicion, Secrets and Surprises

With its Victorian architecture, atmospheric interiors and distinctive character, Lamlash House provided a fitting backdrop for an evening of mystery, deception and entertainment.

Guests were welcomed into the world of MacTraitors, where appearances couldn't always be trusted, suspicions were encouraged and everyone had the opportunity to become a detective for the evening.

Combining immersive theatre, interactive storytelling and plenty of humour, the evening kept guests entertained as they followed the clues, questioned motives and attempted to uncover the truth.

The entertainment was provided by the brilliant Tentpeg Murderers, whose experience in delivering murder mystery events was evident throughout the evening.

Having previously joined us for our Burns-themed murder mystery in January, it was a pleasure to welcome them back to Lamlash House for another memorable performance.

Good Food, Great Company and a Little Deception

Alongside the mystery and entertainment, guests enjoyed a specially prepared four-course dinner, served throughout the evening.

One of the things we particularly enjoy about hosting events at Lamlash House is seeing people come together. Whether attending with friends, as a couple or meeting fellow guests around the table, there's always a wonderful atmosphere when good food and entertainment are shared.

Saturday was no exception, with plenty of laughter, conversation and speculation as the evening unfolded.

What Our Guests Had to Say

One of the most rewarding parts of hosting any event is hearing what our guests thought of their experience, and we were delighted to receive some lovely feedback following Saturday's MacTraitors evening.

Jim Hope shared:

"Thoroughly enjoyed last night. The venue and the hosts were impeccable as ever, and the Tentpeg Murderers were brilliant fun. We enjoyed great company at the table as well. Fantastic night all round 👏"

Julie Ross also commented:

"Had a brilliant night. Thank you."

Feedback like this means a great deal to us. Our aim is always to create occasions that people genuinely enjoy and remember, combining the character of Lamlash House with good food, warm hospitality and entertaining experiences.

More MacTraitors Dates Added for February 2027

Following the fantastic response to our original announcement and the success of Saturday's debut, we're delighted to confirm that additional MacTraitors Murder Mystery evenings have now been added for February 2027.

With our November and December dates already attracting considerable interest, the new February performances offer another opportunity for those who missed out to experience an evening of mystery, entertainment and dining at Lamlash House.

Full details, dates and booking information can be found on our dedicated MacTraitors event page.

Thank You for a Fantastic First Evening

We would like to extend a sincere thank you to everyone who joined us for our first MacTraitors evening, to The Tentpeg Murderers for providing such brilliant entertainment, and to everyone involved in making the event possible.

The enthusiasm shown since bookings opened in July has been wonderful, and Saturday evening reminded us exactly why we love hosting these occasions at Lamlash House.

We're already looking forward to welcoming our next group of suspects and detectives.

Until then, remember... trust no one!
