Lamlash House Welcomes Global Delegates: A Celebration of History, Heritage and Hospitality

VisitScotland delegates at Lamlash House as part of a FAM visit Connect 2025

We were delighted to have been chosen to participate in the VisitScotland Familiarisation (FAM) visits at Lamlash House in Newmilns earlier this week. These visits served as a precursor to the prestigious VisitScotland Connect 2025 Trade Event, held in Aberdeen.

During the first event on Sunday we welcomed delegates from China, offering them an enriching experience that highlighted the historical significance of our Category B Listed property. Originally built as a Branch of The Royal Bank of Scotland and adjoining home for the Bank Manager’s young family, Lamlash House holds deep ties to the local lace manufacturing industry—a tradition that continues to thrive in Newmilns today. Our presentation included insights into this heritage, complemented by an introduction to our heritage tour offerings such as the "Millers & Merchants" tour, hosted in collaboration with Tasting History Ayrshire Tours and MYB Textiles in Newmilns.

Before heading north to Aberdeen for Tuesday's VisitScotland Connect 2025 Trade Event, we hosted a special tour and lunch for delegates from diverse nations including the United States, Canada, Germany, Italy, Belgium, Switzerland, and the Netherlands. This event provided an opportunity to showcase the unique experiences Lamlash House offers.

Guests were treated to a culinary journey featuring locally sourced, high-quality produce, paired with an immersive exploration of Scotland’s rich culture, history, and heritage. We were thrilled to have Jean Miller from Miller’s Larder present to showcase her award-winning Perfyit Piccalilli.  Lamlash House’s Victorian Parlour Maids Annie Currie and Mary Goldie from 1901 were also on hand to help with service. The backdrop of Newmilns and Ayrshire added depth to the group’s understanding of what Scotland can offer international tourists.

Our guests experienced firsthand how Lamlash House combines historical charm with modern hospitality. From its Victorian architecture and stained-glass panels by Stephen Adam to its ties with lace manufacturing pioneers like Joseph Hood, the property is a testament to Scotland’s enduring legacy. The luncheon was served in spaces inspired by interior design icons Charles Rennie Mackintosh and William Morris, further enhancing the cultural experience. Before leaving Newmilns, we extended our warmest wishes to all of our visitors as they continue their journey through Scotland.
